Im about to buy a Simmons 8×30 waterproof 2mp camera binoculars. Any suggestions?

I have this starting idea of using lenses from an old toy binoculars. It works somewhat. The problem is the pictures that I took look like they are being viewed from a tunnel or tube. Any suggestions?
